David I. Bristow is a member of
Team Resolution, a Toronto-based Alternative Dispute Resolution group, which provides ADR Services consisting of
Mediations, Arbitrations, Early Neutral Evaluation, Mini-Trials, Med-Arb and Private Appeals from Arbitral Awards and Trial Judgments in civil actions.
Mr. Bristow is a former counsel to a national Canadian law firm, where he headed the Construction Law Group, and is the co-author of the leading
text on the subject of construction law in Canada. He was the Founding Chairman of the Ontario Bar Association Construction Law Section and a past
Chairman of the Canadian Bar Association Construction Law Section.
Mr. Bristow has a wealth of experience in Commercial Arbitration and Mediation as well as other alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and
in civil litigation in all levels of court from trial to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mr. Bristow was the recipient of the Ontario Bar Association Distinguished Service Award in 1996 and named in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s 4th
Edition of its Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration and was named by LEXPERT (U.S.A.) as one of the top 500 lawyers in
Canada in their publication The 2002 Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada.
He was the recipient in 2002 of the Law Society of Upper Canada Medal and with it the designation LSM and received the Golden Jubilee Medal of
Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. In December 2002, he received the Giffin Award by the construction industry for outstanding service to this industry.
Mr. Bristow is a prolific author and frequent lecturer in Canada, the United States and Caribbean countries such as Cuba and Barbados.
Mr. Bristow is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Arbitrators, on the Commercial and Construction Panels, is a Mediation
and arbitration panel member of the International Chamber of Commerce and is a Mediation and Arbitration Panel Member with the Centre for Public
Resources Institute for Dispute Resolution. He is a member of the International Academy of Mediators and is on the editorial boards of the
Construction Law Letter and the Construction Law Reports, and a contributor to the Daily Commercial News.
Mr. Bristow is presently a Fairness Monitor for a proposed new Bridge project in British Columbia for the British Columbia Government.
Mr. Bristow’s recent mediation and arbitration activities include the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island, the Windsor
Detroit tunnel, the Halifax International Airport, major highways in Canada and co-generation power plant.
